Amber Candela, Ph.D.

Amber Candela, Ph.D., serves as an affiliate faculty member at the Lastinger Center for Learning. In this role Amber will collaborate with faculty related to research in mathematics education, particularly related to professional development.
Amber’s research focuses on the professional development of mathematics teachers, focusing on teachers’ experiences with the professional development. She currently is working with Zandra de Araujo and Samuel Otten on a project on creating and implementing incremental professional development with Algebra teachers. Amber began her career as a middle school mathematics teacher and has been in the field of education for over two decades.
Amber Candela received her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from St. Bonaventure University, a master’s degree in Mathematics Education from Appalachian State University and a doctorate in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia. In her free time, Amber enjoys volunteering at an animal shelter and visiting friends and family out of state.
