Melissa Brydon, PhD
Coordinator, Literacy Implementation
Melissa Brydon serves as a Literacy Implementation Coordinator at the Lastinger Center for Learning. She works on multiple literacy projects including the New Worlds Literacy Initiative, coordinating the creation of literacy resources for families and teachers.
Melissa has over 20 years of experience in the field of special education and literacy. Her experience includes creation of both in-person and online literacy course content, building family-school partnerships around literacy, conducting research within the area of reading development, developing and leading professional development opportunities for teachers, evaluation and strategic planning of teacher education literacy programs, and program administration in higher education.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Education, and doctoral degrees in Special Education all from the University of Florida’s College of Education. Melissa enjoys gardening, canning, cooking, crafting, reading, and spending downtime with her husband, daughter, and Labradoodle hiking on the weekends.
