Math Matrix Micro-Credential
Educators are our most powerful catalyst for change when it comes to enhancing math literacy and proficiency and it is critical that all mathematics teachers are adequately prepared and supported to teach each and every student. The UF Lastinger Center’s Math Matrix Micro-Credential provides high-quality, flexible competency-based online professional learning for mathematics educators.
What is the Math Matrix Micro-Credential?
The Math Matrix Micro-Credential is a flexible, asynchronous, competency-based online professional learning system designed to enhance mathematics education in K-12 classrooms by building teacher capacity.
- It is aligned to Florida B.E.S.T. Standards and NCTM Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices.
- It includes pedagogical mathematics content for teachers, specialists and coaches.
- It engages participants through interactive activities and reflective assignments.
- It incorporates job-embedded practice for K-12 mathematics teachers to implement in their classroom.
What does the Math Matrix Micro-Credential do?
The Math Matrix supports K-12 teachers, educators and coaches to:
- Give each and every student access to high-quality mathematics instruction
- Develop deep mathematical knowledge for teaching key concepts
- Implement research-based instructional strategies
Who is eligible?
- K-12 mathematics teachers, educators, specialists and coaches in Florida
Why participate?
As a result of participating in the pilot study, educators will:
- Receive FREE enrollment in the Math Matrix Micro-Credential
- Earn a $1,000 completion stipend upon successful completion of courses
- Gain up to 60 professional learning hours
- Receive one-on-one support & feedback
- Implement new instructional strategies through job-embedded practice

Number Sense & Operations (K-5)
Focus on whole numbers, place value, operations and fractions

Algebraic Reasoning (6-12)
Focus on algebra, foundational knowledge of equations & functions, and algebraic habits

Course 3 (20 hours)
Practicum
Apply what you learned in Course 1 & 2 in your own context

*Participants will select either the K-5 grade band or the 6-12 grade band for Course 2.
What are the next steps?
Registration for new participants to all Math Matrix Micro-Credential courses are now closed for the 2024-25 academic year. Our next enrollment/registration period will start early in the Fall 2025. Fill out our Program Interest Form to receive an update when a new enrollment/registration period opens!
