Chair

Chris Sprowls is an attorneypodcast host and was the Speaker of the Ninetieth Florida House of Representatives. In November 2020, Speaker Sprowls conceived the idea for House Bill 3 (2021), creating the New Worlds Reading Initiative, Florida’s first state-sponsored book delivery program to improve literacy and inspire a love of reading in K-5 students. An avid reader and father, much of his legislative agenda was focused on building a better future in Florida for our children, families and communities.

Under Speaker Sprowls’ leadership, the Florida House passed bills and historic funding to galvanize responsible fatherhood; provide the largest middle-class tax cut in Florida history that included tax relief on diapers, children’s books and children’s clothes; and ensure more students and families than ever before gained access to school choice programs. He also oversaw the Florida House’s first-ever statewide civics curriculum to help fourth-graders learn direct from the source about Florida civics and lawmaking.

Prior to his service in the Florida House, Sprowls spent several years as an assistant state attorney for Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit prosecuting violent gang and homicide crimes. He is currently an attorney with the national law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney and serves on the advisory boards of the Lastinger Center and the Protecting Americans Action Fund, as well as on the board of directors of Flagship Bank. Sprowls resides in Palm Harbor, Florida, with his wife Shannon, and their two young sons, Prescott and Conrad.
