At any time of day, students have free, unlimited access to adaptive diagnostic assessments with individualized remediation pathways, research-based content and videos that are engaging and standards-aligned, and opportunities for collaboration with students and math experts across the state. Math Nation is currently piloting middle grades (6-8) mathematics content and will begin releasing statewide in Florida in the 2019-2020 school year.
Algebra 1 is often considered the gateway mathematics course to future success in high school and college-level mathematics. Math Nation’s Onramp to Algebra aims to ensure that each student is poised for success in Algebra 1 by improving their foundational knowledge of mathematics. This program assesses a student’s current level of understanding of key pre-algebra and foundational mathematics topics through an adaptive diagnostic tool. Teachers and students receive immediate feedback of which concepts are in need of remediation and an individualized pathway that presents these concepts using graphics, manipulatives, and other tools to strengthen the student’s conceptual understanding.
Our geometry content guides students as they explore more complex geometric concepts and deepen their understanding of geometric relationships, moving towards formal mathematical arguments. Students examine congruence, constructions, proof, similarity of polygons, properties of two- and three- dimensional objects (ex: area, surface area, and volume), and use their knowledge of algebra to verify geometric relationships.
Building on their work with linear, quadratic, and exponential functions, students extend their repertoire of functions to include polynomial, rational, and radical functions. Students work closely with the expressions that define the functions, and continue to expand and hone their abilities to model situations and to solve equations, including solving quadratic equations over the set of complex numbers and solving exponential equations using the properties of logarithms.
