America El Sheikh

America J. El Sheikh serves as a graduate research assistant with the Lastinger Center for Learning. America’s research is focused on an Institute of Education Sciences grant that has developed and pilot tested online professional development for elementary teachers for bullying prevention and intervention strategies for students with disabilities. America has five years of experience working as a research assistant on several government-funded projects on school safety, mental health, and transformative social emotional learning in K-12 school settings.
America earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida and is in the MEd/EdS in counselor education at the University of Florida.
