Jamie Harmon serves as the Academic Support Specialist at the Lastinger Center for Learning. In this role, Jamie is responsible for the implementation of the Emergent Literacy Micro-Credential.

Jamie spent the first 12 years of her career teaching in PreK – 4th grade classrooms outside of Washington, D.C. After moving to Florida, she followed her professional development interest and decided to come out of the classroom. She spent the next 4 years working at the Early Learning Coalitions of Polk County and Hillsborough County getting to train and coach teachers to help them improve their practice in the classroom. For the last 2 years, Jamie was the West Central VPK Regional Facilitator where she lead the implementation of VPK program assessment and trained VPK teachers for their required emergent literacy training.

Jamie has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Lebanon Valley College and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Educational Technology, Training & Development from the University of North Florida. In her free time, Jamie loves to read, watch movies, and enjoy big and small adventures with her husband, daughter and two crazy but adorable cats.
