Specialist, Literacy Content, New Worlds Reading Initiative

Laura Morton serves as a Literacy Content Development Specialist for the New Worlds Reading Initiative at the Lastinger Center for Learning. In her role with the New Worlds Reading Initiative, she creates family resources to encourage lifelong reading and learning.

She is motivated by her desire to create support structures where families feel confident and successful in helping their children become stronger readers. She has over eight years of experience in elementary education, curriculum design, and family literacy.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from the State University of New York College at Oneonta, and a Master of Science in Literacy and Childhood Education from Sage Graduate School. Laura loves going on adventures both large and small with her two black labs as well as channeling her creativity into various hobbies such as cookie decorating, felt crafts, and painting.
