Takeshia Pierre is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Lastinger Center and a current PhD Candidate at the School of Teaching and Learning. Takeshia has completed her Bachelor’s in Health Science and Master’s degree in Public Health both at the University of Florida. Her duties at the Lastinger Center encompass professional development for teachers in STEM, enhancing STEM curriculum to support the learning of diverse students, and coordinating, with an international team of Scholars, a symposium that provides a platform to dialogue about professional development and learning in education with participants from across the globe.

Prior to serving as a team member at the Lastinger Center, Takeshia has conducted research, interventions, and directed programs that develop leadership skills for undergraduates for over 8 years. She also served as a teacher educator and facilitated professional development for STEM educators for 3 years. Outside of her scholarship, and quest to provide equitable education to all learners, Takeshia enjoys traveling, exploring plant-based food options of various cultures, and binge-watching sitcoms.
