Regional Manager, New Worlds Reading Initative

Michelle serves as a New Worlds Reading Initiative’s Family & Community Engagement Specialist at the Lastinger Center for Learning. In this role, Michelle is responsible for the family & community engagement projects of the New Worlds Reading Initiatives in Northeast Florida.

Before joining Lastinger, Michelle spent over 20 years working in the not for profit arena in various roles. These include literacy coach, education specialist, Chapter Education Lead, Director of Partnership & Program Development to becoming a member of a NFP executive leadership team as VP, Community Relations where she was in charge of the strategic planning and implementation of community engagement efforts, in partnership with community stakeholders, for the organization. Michelle began her career as a teacher in the Duval County Public School System.

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees. Michelle has a deep passion for service in the community where she serves on the Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital, as an Ambassador for the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, Mentor with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northeast Florida and 2021 alumna of Leadership Jacksonville. She has a deep love for helping others and is happy spending her days making her community an amazing place to live-one volunteer opportunity at a time.
