Florida Tutoring Advantage
Florida Tutoring Advantage professional learning courses provide administrators and tutors with knowledge and skills designed to enhance the effectiveness of tutoring programs. With content focused on K-5 tutoring in reading and mathematics, participants will build a foundation of effective tutoring practices and improve student outcomes.
About our Courses
Courses vary in length but are developed to be approximately 5 hours long, depending on the depth of content and the number of modules included. Each course is designed to be completed asynchronously. Courses start January 6, 2025.
- Building an Effective Tutoring Program (starting January 2025)
- Tutoring Fundamentals (starting January 2025)
- Advanced Tutoring in Reading (starting Late Spring 2025)
- Advanced Tutoring in Mathematics (starting Late Spring 2025)
Course Descriptions
Course 1: Tutoring Fundamentals – A professional learning course that will cover the basics of tutoring. This course’s learning objective is to ensure that all learners can demonstrate a base knowledge of the tutoring fundamentals.
Course 2: Building an Effective Tutoring Program – A professional learning course that provides school and district leaders with information on how to build and run an effective tutoring program that will qualify for the state program, the Florida Tutoring Advantage. This course’s learning objective is to ensure that all learners can demonstrate a base knowledge of starting and running a district wide tutoring program.
Course 3: Advanced Tutoring in Mathematics
Course 4: Advanced Tutoring in Reading
Who is eligible?
Florida K-12 public and public charter personnel with a state appointed email address, including but not limited to:
- Administrators of tutoring programs
- District employees
- Classroom teachers
- Certified teachers
- Tutors
- Aspiring educators (college students, interns, etc) employed by districts
- High school students (RAISE tutors)
- Paraprofessionals
- Retired teachers employed by districts
- PTA/PTO members employed by districts
When do courses start?
Courses 1 & 2 are launching on January 6, 2025! Complete the Florida Tutoring Advantage Interest Form to be notified when course applications become available. Learners who complete the course application will be enrolled on a rolling basis.
