For the United States to meet workforce demands, more students must be competent in core mathematics, as much research shows that students with strong math skills are more likely to attend college and fill advanced, higher earning jobs. Unfortunately, the reality is that a majority of students, particularly those of color, are not proficient in mathematics.

The Lastinger Center has responded to the urgent need to adequately equip the future workforce with necessary skills and knowledge by developing Math Nation and its flagship program, Algebra Nation. This online mathematics teaching and learning system offers tailored tools and resources to support students and teachers of algebra, geometry, and algebra 2, now reaching more than 500,000 students and 25,000 teachers per year across six states. In certain counties, Algebra Nation has even been adopted as the standard algebra curriculum for all schools.
